Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"Wonderful place to eat with a view of the sea. Very friendly and attentive staff, full of smiles. Fantastic cocktail menu. We shared a steak and prawn, and seafood pizza. Both outstanding, with the pizza being probably the best I have ever had."
"Had amazing food here, augmented by excellent and friendly service, we definitely recommend this spot!"
"If there’s one place that has become part of our dive ritual in Sodwana Bay, it’s Mseni Beach Lodge. We’ve been diving in the area for the past year, and every trip includes time at their beautiful restaurant overlooking the ocean. The setting alone is worth it, watching the sun dip behind the restaurant while the sea stretches endlessly in front of you is something that never gets old We planned this visit almost a year in advance because February’s full moon gave us a chance of seeing turtle hatchlings. After lunch we met the manager, Travis, on the beach and mentioned we’d be back later that evening. Without hesitation, he told us to take our time, enjoy the night, and that he would arrange for the gates not to be locked early so we wouldn’t feel rushed. He also shared helpful insight about the area and what to watch for. What followed was pure magic We returned for dinner and sat in the restaurant, mesmerised as the perfectly round full moon rose over the ocean in the most spectacular way - a white orb lifting from the sea’s bright blue horizon and slowly beginning to glow as the sky softened into dusk. When night finally fell, we wandered down the stairs onto a shoreline wrapped in silver and golden moonshine We played in the surf, did cartwheels like kids, and soaked in a moment that felt timeless. As if the evening hadn’t already given us enough, we were blessed with our first turtle sighting a far walk further along the beach And the best part, the little one successfully made their journey into the sea I can’t thank Travis and his team enough for their kindness, flexibility, and warm hospitality. The venue is stunning, the staff are genuinely friendly, and the food is consistently excellent. We’re already counting the days until our next trip in a couple of months. Mseni feels like home, and we can’t wait to be back."
"Firstly, you have to pay an additional r5 pp to drive to the restaurant, after paying r45 pp which is already more than the website listed price. Ofc this is a rip off and the slip says night visits when we entered at 1pm. I can recommend the fish and chips and curry. Both made from decent ingredients. Cannot recommend the pizza its made from frozen pizza base, tasteless toppings and low quality cheese. Services little slow and waited for the bill for a long time."
"Mbali served us when we were there, she was an absolute treasure, she is great with children and makes you feel welcomed. I came again the very next day. The food is good and I enjoyed the prawn and calamari."
"We did not stay at Mseni Beach Lodge, but enjoyed dinner one evening at their restaurant. Their food was delicious - the Dorado was the best fish dish I've ever had. The service was quick and friendly - even though it was Easter weekend and the restaurant packed. We ended the evening with Pastéis de Nata which was amazing. Whenever we are in Sodwana Bay we always try to fit in a dinner at Mseni and they never disappoint."
"Great restaurant for sundowners and dinner. The food is excellent, and well-priced with big portions! The staff are all exceptionally friendly and accommodating."
"Great food. Unfortunately you have to pay 200R (2 people with a car) at the boom gate just to get to the restaurant... Worth it for once. Great food, pricing ok, nice view!"
